I create ceramic sculpture.
My sculpture strives to evoke mystery and ambiguity using biomorphic forms that straddle the boundaries between the human, the animal, nature, and the otherworldly. My intent is to connect the world of the subconscious with the world of our perceptions of everyday reality. I draw upon my archive of experience, memory, and the imaginary to create my work.
My current work explores relationships between abstract forms within narrative compositions. I invite viewers to enter these environments and discover something within themselves—perhaps a feeling not often acknowledged—or an experience long forgotten. By suggesting a presence beyond our everyday world, my work probes the innocent, lighthearted—and occasionally uneasy—worlds within each of us.
